With summer here you will always find talk about a very fun but large undertaking in the culinary world – the pig roast.
Roasting an entire pig for a large crowd is very exciting and can be lots of fun. In fact, pig roasts have been a way of celebrating many different events all over the world for centuries now. When done properly, the result is juicy pork you can rip apart with your fingers and crisp shards of maple-colored skin that crackle in between your teeth; patience rewards.
Pig roasting is a symbol of celebrations across the globe in many different countries. From Hawaii, to Puerto Rico, Cuba, the UK, and the Philippines and of course across the United States. Here, it is a fun way to get people together and have a great meal. A pig roast is the perfect way to connect age-old celebratory traditions with modern-day parties.
At “La Place” we are fortunate to have a couple of Voyager Militaires that enjoy putting their flare to this tradition and are able to turn it into an afternoon of socializing and fun. Walt Baran and Matt Whitton like what they do and put a lot of effort into this annual event and is why everyone always has a great time and no one leaves hungry.
